Upcycle those butter and sour cream containers!
I didn’t want the print on the containers showing, so I searched the Internet for ways to get rid of it. Thanks to 100% pure acetone the print easily comes off. (Be sure to wash the container afterwards and don’t fill the container with any food, acetone is harmful).
Now, how to decorate them? They make duct tape with all these cool prints and colors nowadays. There is also this tape that is becoming popular called washi tape, or some people call it happy tape. You can even cover it with scrapbook paper. The ideas are endless!
A roll of the printed duct tape cost around $3.37 at Walmart. I have also seen them at Target. The acetone cost $2.00. For about $6, you can make a lot of pretty containers for your organizational needs, just from recycling what you have at home.
I tried wrapping the duct tape around the container first and that didn’t work out as well as I planned. The duct tape would crease and go crooked. I cut the tape in strips and applied it vertical down the container.
It’s okay if you overlap some on the top or the bottom. You can fold it over and then use your x-acto knife and just cut it to make it look nice and neat.
I like how it turned out! Next time when the butter container is empty, I hope you will remember to save your plastic container.
